The Winning Toilet

Sorry gang, its quite outdated.... but worth it

AN ECO-SUSTAINABLE lavatory won Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) a gold medal at the British Invention Show 2007.
Azimin Tazilan's innovation focused on low cost, practicality, commercial feasibility and environmental friendliness. “The shortcomings of public toilets in Malaysia motivated me to come up with this design. Many public toilets are vandalised, have poor lighting and require high maintenance. My toilet design addresses all of these problems” said Azimin. Named as the Eco-Sustainable Street Active Public Lavatory or ECSTRACT for short, Azimin's zero energy design utilises daylight and solar energy. Well ventilated and spacious, the good air circulation creates a natural drying process to limit mishaps that may come from slippery surfaces.

“I got inspirations for my designs from traditional Malay architecture,” he said. “Kampung houses have many openings and this ensures a good inflow of fresh air.”
